Arte y Pico Award

This is long overdue. A big thanks to Ivan Chan for selecting Zen-Images for the Arte y Pico award last July. If you don't know Ivan's finger painting, you are in for a real treat. His work is exotic & sensual and his Asia-Pacific scenes remind of us of the great French artist, Paul Gaugin.

Ivan wrote that the "bloggers at Arte y Pico (this is a Spanish language blog, so if you don't read Spanish, get your Internet translators ready) created the Arte y Pico Award to honor artists who create, design, and inspire regardless of language or culture. It's an international award for a global community of artist-bloggers, acknowledging that what we create helps make the world a finer place."

Now we have the honor of giving this award to five of our peers. Here are the rules for the Arte y Pico Award:

1) Award five blogs that contribute to the blogging community through creativity, design, and interesting material, regardless of language.

2) Name each of the five blog authors and provide a link to his or her blog.

3) Award recipients must show the Arte y Pico Award image and the name of the award-giving blog author, as well as the award-giving blog author's blog link.

4) Award recipients must provide a link to the Arte y Pico blog.

5) Award recipients must show these rules.

Back to Work

Last May, we stopped working to go to the US to help JW's 95 year old Dad recover from a stroke. After 3 months, we returned to our home in France to find a garden overrun with grass and weeds and a house reminiscent of Ms. Haversham's. A month later, we've finally found the calm needed to return to our Ikebana Art Blog. Here are a few of Baiko's new creations.

Imagekind Featured Artist of the Week

I am honored and thrilled that I have been chosen by Imagekind as one of the three "Featured Artists of the Week." I hope this increased exposure will entice those not familiar with Ikebana to visit my galleries and experience this Japanese art form which I love so much.

A New Milestone

During the weekend, the My Fans counter on my Imagekind gallery clicked past 1000. I would like to thank all of you for taking the time to look at my work. I especially appreciate those of you who have written to me to comment on my Ikebana Art. It has been an inspiration.

An Iris is an Iris is an Iris?

The iris is one of my favorite flowers to work with. I love its sensuous blossoms and pointed buds. Walking through my garden, the white and purple masses of the early-blooming variety of beard irises are a feast for the eyes. But have you ever inhaled their exotic scent? Hmmm!
I never noticed it until I started to work with them.

'The Dutch Tulip'

Those of you who have visited this blog know me by my Japanese name 'Baiko' (Plum Blossom) which the Sogetsu School gave me when I was awarded the title 'Sensei' or Master.

But, for my American father-in-law, I am and will always be 'The Dutch Tulip' because I hail from Holland and love to work with this symbol of my country.
